I sent my novel Mail Order Bride off to the editor this morning for a developmental edit. For those of you who don’t know, a developmental edit is when an editor looks over your work and suggests changes to your story structure, characterization, and other parts of your novel in order to make the work better. It’s sort of like a critique, only a bit of a deeper dive.
I’m very fortunate in that a lot of people chose to believe in me and donate to a GoFundMe! so I could afford to send my novel for this edit, and I’m hoping when it comes back and I get done with revisions and a good proof read, that the novel will be ready to head off to potential publishers.
I’m both excited and nervous to take this step, but I’m grateful for the people who helped give me the opportunity.
